By doing this we can at last uncover the secrets to bringing complete and lasting healing and wholeness to ourselves and our world. There is no time more fitting for this than now. Not only because this is a time of year when people are still focused on newness and on potential, but because of where we are in our collective journey toward our destiny. Kabbalah (that branch of the Jewish Mystical Tradition in which I specialize) tells us that we are now in the stage of deepest transition; the "birth-pangs" that directly precede the ushering-in of a beautiful new reality. At this moment, our world is poised in cosmic balance between two possibilities - the possibility of darkness and destruction and the possibility of renewal and light. And, because you are essentially a holograph containing an entire universe within you in miniature form, you, whether you know it or not, have the potential to tip the scales toward the world of light, a world where all of our deepest dreams come true. Kabbalah, as well as contemporary spiritual teachings, tells us that we are living through a time of vast transformation that will ultimately affect every aspect of what it means to be a human being. As a prelude to that transformation, both darkness and light will continue to intensify – in order that we can see them clearly for what they truly are, and choose which path to follow. According to authentic Kabbalah, the purpose of illness and pain is not, ultimately, to make us suffer. Nor is the simple healing of illness – even miraculous healing – as high as we can go. All darkness, in its essence, is a kind of grand illusion, here by Divine design as a catalyst to reveal the most brilliant light of the Creator and the deepest, most powerful levels of your soul.
