Will EFT's Founder Be Retiring To a New
Career?

To read what other EFT Masters have to say about the retirement of EFT's Founder, Gary Craig, visit http://www.eftmastersworldwide.com) Considering his amazing energy and resourcefulness, the hope expressed in this title is in my opinion likely to be a reality when Gary Craig removes himself formally from the EFT scene in March of this year. According to his recent announcement (see http://www.emofree.com/archives/archive704.htm - Gary's Retirement Blog – note that he states in the blog that he will retire on January 15 but he has since changed that date to March 1) Gary's stepping back from EFT will usher in a new focus for his life and talents. At the least, in light of his impressive talents and enthusiasms, we can be quite sure that the coming era in Gary's life will not consist of just a leisurely stroll on the beach. It is much more likely to involve some new project. This first stage of EFT has been an adventure for all of us. Let me reminisce a bit… I remember the day I first heard of Gary Craig and realized that he was bringing an unusual vitality to what was then a only a very small tapping community. "Who is this man?" I wondered, "How does his work differ from Roger Callahan's, from Fred Gallo's, from my own?" I was soon to find out. The minute I saw Gary actually work –– it was at a conference in New Jersey –– I recognized that I was in the presence of a clinician of the greatest skill and sensitivity. Here was a real therapist, a born healer, and a remarkable leader. I saw that he was a fine showman as well, in the best sense of the word, and a highly skilled teacher. Later I was to find out by reading his website and email list-serve that he was also a skilled writer. As I watched him work with clients, something within me said, "Forget about your own single algorithm method and go with EFT. It's going to move where Gary Craig wants it to, and that's far. We have a leader." I was right. From 1995 on, for 14 years, Gary was the captain of the tapping world's vessel, steering it with strength and sureness. He made a few human-type blunders along the way and the ship encountered some storms, but the boat ploughed doggedly on as it entered ever deeper waters, and the voyage was intoxicating. Gary’s high powered intelligence built what people referred to as "The Website" and "The Newsletter". He created an edifice known as emofree.com that contained one of the great clinical databases seen anywhere. His newsletter was the very breath of EFT, in his own words, its "heartbeat". Gary molded EFT. He brought it from its humble beginnings to becoming a real presence in the world. He did what no one who did not have his genius for marketing could possibly have done – he enabled this unknown method to be accepted worldwide by hundreds of thousands of people. And now, in 2010, EFT's Captain will step from the helm. We do not know all that has gone into his decision to leave because we never know all that goes on behind the scenes in historical decisions, but he indicates that he will move on to another focus in his life. Gary crafted this edifice called EFT and it was dominated by his own strong spirit. When other strong spirits emerged and other gifts joined his, in a sense he was no longer needed in the same way. How he felt when he realized that the pioneering stage of his voyage was over, we do not know. Perhaps he will remain a pioneer at heart always, ever seeking a new frontier on which to test his strength. Many another leader before him has needed this. In the meantime, the movement which he launched is more impressive than he could ever have dreamed it would be when he started it. A force was set into motion that in the last few years has been spreading beyond EFT to blend with other tremendous energies stirring on this planet. And we who are to inherit the legacy of EFT will now be the prime carriers of this message. I feel strongly that we must address our immense task with a deep sense of responsibility, for it will be our task to preserve the great database in as much as we can (please, let it not disappear!), to foster the human exchanges, and to guide future followers. We must ensure that the tapping methods continue to expand and eventually transform as history sees fit. And so, I give great thanks to Gary for all he has accomplished for us thus far, and I extend a welcome to his faithful armies and generals and frontiers-people who must now guard the legacy. May we remain of courage and of good heart as we do so, as you were Gary when you set out with such an open mind and indomitable spirit on this amazing journey. We await your future plans with excitement…
